Wet Lab LaunchPad

 The Wet Lab LaunchPad, a landmark project for the PTRP, provides affordable laboratory space made available to start-up biotechnology firms. The space is on the first floor of the Richard H. Dean Biomedical Research Building and includes three separate labs and accompanying office spaces. Companies will be selected based on several criteria, including their probability of success and anticipated contribution to PTRP. Being a part of PTRP will give these fledgling companies access to utilize the resources of the park, including a supportive network of tenant companies and organizations.

UNC-Greensboro to spin off firm in NanoAccelerator

UNC-Greensboro is spinning off the first company to result from its new focus on the cutting-edge technology of nanobioscience, hoping to capitalize on research regarding a potentially dramatic improvement in cancer treatment. The company, Thermiacure, will be housed in the N.C. Nanotech Accelerator in High Point, and will be the first example of a new formal partnership between the accelerator and the school.

CED Report Shows North Carolina Venture Investments Surged in 2007

Research Triangle Park, N.C. – The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) today announced the results of their 2007 CED North Carolina Venture Report in conjunction with the start of CED’s 25th annual Venture conference in Durham, NC. According to the report, North Carolina companies raised more than $900 million in venture capital investments - a 72% increase over 2006. Building the Future: PTRP Eyes Next Phase of Growth

In downtown Winston-Salem, 230 acres of concrete is being transformed into a bustling research and business development. Already, the Piedmont Triad Research Park contains 554,000 square feet of lab space and provides hundreds of jobs for Triad residents. Wake Forest University and its Health Sciences CEO Richard Dean drove much of the growth in the last few years.
